AboutI just finished doing 100 things, so while I am on a roll I decided to get the About Me page completed.
My name is Pamela and I was born in San Salvador, El Salvador on October 25, 1972. I was the first and only child that my parents had during their marriage. At age 4, I moved to Brownsville, Texas with my mother, my stepfather and my half brother, Francisco. That’s where I did all of my schooling until it was time for me to attend college. I started my college education in Industrial Engineering at Texas A&M University. After three long, boring years I realized that I was studying Engineering for the wrong reasons and changed majors to International Studies. My focus was Latin American studies with a minor in Business. I got to study abroad in Costa Rica in the summer of 1996 before graduating in August of 1996. During my stay at Texas A&M I pledged Alpha Phi. I lived in the sorority house for 3 years and managed to hold three offices: Assistant Treasurer, Treasurer and President. After graduation, I lived in Middletown, New Jersey for about 6 months and worked for an insurance company. The winter was very cold and very long, so I moved back to Texas. This time around I decided to try out Houston, Texas. I started working at a Meeting & Conference Planning company that enabled me to travel. Because of that experience I did some catering here and there and got to see some amazing houses, meet famous people and taste some of the best food Houston had to offer. Eventually I ended up working in the oil & gas industry (stumbled into the industry by accident). I have worked for three companies in this industry. In 2002 Lone Star moved my family and I up to Dallas, Texas. Although the move was a bit unexpected, we welcomed the changed. I suppose that regardless of where I move, Houston, Texas will always be a special place in my life. I did a lot of growing up during that time. It was while I was in Houston that I finally worked up the nerve to look up my real father and reunite. It was while I was in Houston that I worked on my pride and discovered the love of friends and family members. It was while I was in Houston that I decided to get married. It was while I was in Houston that I became a mother. In 2000 I married my soul mate. Daniel and I met in high school and dated on and off during college. Although most of our dating life was “an interesting ride” our friendship did not really bloom until we reunited again in Houston after we both dated other people and grew up!! Daniel was studying abroad in France when he proposed to me. I will never forget his words “I am ready to go to Vegas.” So on March 11, 2000 Daniel and I became husband and wife at the Excalibur Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. By July of 2000, we found out that we were going to become parents in April of 2001. Our little family soon grew when Nicolas Gian entered the world on April 6, 2001. On August 15, 2003 life became even more interesting when our little princess, Carisela Amor arrived. Currently I am a full time working mother, who has a small cake decorating business on the side and just completed my MBA at SMU. Daniel just completed grad school too with his masters in counseling. We have supportive family and friends that helped us get through this crazy stage in life. Life has been an interesting journey for me and I welcome anything else that comes my way. Although much has happened in my life, I still see much more on the horizon. That is what I love about my marriage to Daniel. We love to adventure and dream together. Why don’t you check out my 100 Things page.
